Students in Mrs. Smith's Kindergarten class recently went to the pumpkin patch. Her classroom page has some pictures and quotes from her students about their trip.

The school cafeteria staff helped us celebrate Johnny Appleseed with a week of apple tasting! We were able to experience different varieties of apples as well as numerous apple dishes. They also have planned a week of pumpkin recipes for us to sample. We have been trying to implement more locally grown vegetables and produce into the menu, please take a minute the next time you visit the cafeteria to thank the staff for their hard work and how much you appreciate what they do each day.

Principal Johnson has agreed to shave off his beard if the students in 3rd grade read 1000 books before the winter holiday. Let's all encourage these students to keep on reading! We will be posting updates of how close they are to their goal each week outside of Principal Johnson's office. The agreement happened when Principal Johnson held the third grade assembly and he stated the students were good readers, but he thought they could do better - a student asked him, "What would you do if we read 1000 books by the end of the year?" He said that was too easy, but if they could do it by the winter break, he would shave his beard. As you know, Mr. Johnson has had his beard for many years and is quite proud and fond of his facial hair.
